One of the many current topics is sustainable and CO2-neutral production,
which poses major and especially expensive challenges for all companies.
We have already taken a number of steps in this direction.
Almost all of our production facilities are powered by electricity. Our own photovoltaic system has an
average annual output of 250 kWp, which covers 60% of the demand, a further 20 kWp is under preparation.
The remaining electricity requirements are covered exclusively by external purchases from renewable sources. Meanwhile, we regularly invest in the renewal of our machinery and pay attention to the energy efficiency of the systems.
As company vehicles, we use exclusively plug-in hybrids or electric vehicles, which are regularly charged at 12 charging points on the company's premises.
We use heat pumps to heat our offices, sanitary facilities and locker rooms. About 70% of our lighting system has been converted to LED technology and further conversions are planned.
We use natural gas to heat our production halls and warehouses with energy-efficient dark radiators with heat recovery. Other hall heating systems are not suitable due to the sensitivity of the welding processes to airflow. We also need gas to generate heat in our paint facilities.
Powder coating in particular is energy-intensive, as the temperature is required up to 200 degree. The system has recently been equipped with a new low-consumption gas burner and a heat recovery system.
Our buildings were constructed between 1997 and 2020 and have a good energy standard. The initial planning drafts are available for the fresh air ventilation of the production halls using heat recovery systems.
