Available from October: → BOS4-CDH	New oil separators for transcritical CO2 applications  |  As we all know, the oil balance plays a significant role in performance and reliability, for the complex CO2 refrigeration system in particular. We are setting new standards in these areas with the newly developed BOS4 oil separator series. Thanks to the optimized design of the internal borosilicate separator cartridge type FK4, the application of the BOS4 oil separators guarantees the highest oil separation rates under all operating conditions and a long cartridge service life, even with contaminated oil.	more ...

The current delivery situation and new prices from July 2021	Please be prepared for longer delivery times and price adjustments from July 2021! ... even though the pleasing development of incidence values in our region makes us hopeful, the supply and price situation for many raw materials and products is currently worsening dramatically. At the same time, demand from customers has risen sharply within a short period of time. The increase affects almost all of our products and comes from a large number of our customers. Despite extensive warehousing, long-term material planning and the great commitment of our purchasing team, we will no longer be able to catch up with this development in the second half of 2021 and will only be able to purchase raw materials at increased prices. Therefore, the adjustment of our sales prices as of 1 July 2021 is inevitable. It fulfills all the demanding technical and quality requirements for components made for transcritical CO2 applications. ESK is able to offer vessels with volumes of up to 250 litres now. As a standard the receivers are protected against corrosion by a 500 hour salt spray test resisting coating. The installation of discharge line mufflers in the pressure line has proven successful in reducing gas pulsation. Discharge line mufflers reduce gas pulsation, but not structure-borne noise.	more ...

ESK Oil level regulator series ERM5	New: Due to the application of more powerful solenoid valves, our oil level regulators are approved for pressure differences of 1.5 bar up to 100 bar now. The maximum working pressure up to the solenoid valve is 130 bar. The main body connected to the compressor is approved for 60 bar or 130 bar (type: ERM5-CDH). We enhance our capacities!	The requirements for refrigeration products are changing noticeably - that means new or modified products. Natural refrigerants und increasing working pressure are the related slogans. In addition our company is growing continuously. To be prepared for the future we extended our amount of space for production for additional 800 qm. To do so we moved our stock for manufactured goods to a new warehouse located at our current site in Velten. Oil Separators for transcritical CO2 applications	The ESK oil separator series BOS2-CDH-… has been especially designed for transcritical applications. The oil separators are equipped with coalescence filter elements for the efficient removal of oil. The filter elements of the flanged versions can be exchanged. Instead of an internal float valve the separators are equipped with a connection for an oil level sensor. The standard versions have a 1/2”NPTF connection. Alternatively oil separators can also be ordered with a connection for the ESK oil level control type OSC.	more ...

ESK High and Low Level control ENC2	The sensor is designed to recognize oils and refrigerants in oil reservoirs and liquid receivers. The electronic module can be used as minimum or maximum level control. The information about the level situation into a vessel is signaled over a relay. The optoelectronic sensor sends infrared light by a LED, in case of no available liquid the light is reflected by the prism to the light receiver. The removable connection between prism and electronic module allows the change of electronic without opening refrigeration cycle. ESK components can be equipped with a direct sensor connection on request.The electronic components of the module are selected according industrial standard.Therefore ENC2 is applicable for the described temperature range.	more ...

New components for transcritical CO2 application	One of the characteristics of the transcritical CO2 process is the fact that during the compression process the critical point is exceeded. As a result pressures of up the 130 bar are reached. Oil separation is also difficult so due to the fact, that CO2 has a much higher gas density than other refrigerants. Based on a long experience with subcritical CO2 systems ESK has been offering since 2007 oil management components for transcritical applications. In the system diagram below is shown how an oil management system for the transcritical process can be build. For the oil separation special designed oil separators type BOS…CDH (Pos. 2) with a maximum working pressure of 130 bar are used. Due to the high pressure oil separators are equipped with a connection for an oil level sensor (3) instead of an internal float valve.The sensor controls the oil return via an external valve (4), which has to be installed inside the oil return line between oil separator and oil reservoir.The oil reservoir and the following components have a maximum working pressure of 40 bar.	more ...

New components: High performance oil separators BOS	The following illustration shows that the portion of oil particles at < 1 μm in discharge gas flow rises with increasing discharge gas temperature. These aerosol particles collide less with the 3-layered stainless steel strainer elements of standard oil separators, leading to a reduction in separation efficiency. For decades, separators have therefore been equipped with coalescence elements in plants of the petrochemical as well as the compressed air industry. ESK has gained positive experiences with them in projects using transcritical CO2 applications and environmental test chambers (extreme conditions). This led to the development of a supplementary product line of oil separators.	more ...

Transcritical CO2 application	Until now, ESK has produced hermetic oil separators with a coalescent element until PS= 130 bar max. operating pressure, oil reservoirs, suction line accumulators and special vessels up to PS= 70 bar.To exchange coalescent elements in future, a flanged oil separator is introduced during the Chillventa 2008 exhibition. The components for transcritical operation are cost and time intensive individual items regarding the design, material purchase and production. For the installation of components in the plant, NPT connectors, Swagelok adapters and welding connectors are available. While all components listed in ESK catalog are available ex-warehouse, respective delivery times must be considered with transcritical ones, also for replacements. All vessels for transcritical application are calculated,designed and approved according to German AD-rules. The vessel welding seams have to pass a 100 per cent x-ray test.	more ...

New Data and Components	Increase of max. Operating Pressure PS Following the European Standard EN 378-2 the max. admissible pressure of the ESK Standard Products like Discharge Mufflers, Oil Separators, Strainers, Oil Reservoirs, Oil Level Regulators and Liquid Receivers has been increased from PS= 28 bar to PS= 31 bar. New version of shell tube	Since 15 years we are using for the production of our 40 litres components a steel shell tube with an outside diameter of D=298,5 mm. This size of tube is produced by one manufacturer only. In November 2004 the manufacturer has increased in his offer the minimum order quantity from 5 to 15 ton. That is a demand of several years. Based on this difficult situation, we have decided to change design of involved components to a more commen shell tube size diameter of D=273 mm.	more ...
